Support the TSAA Grant Award!!

The Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAC Grant) is the state’s only need-based aid grant program for college students.  Each year the program offers funding for nearly 30,000 college students at both public and private universities.  Another 130,000 students, however, apply and qualify for the scholarship but fail to get the aid because of a lack of funding.

The good news is that Governor Bill Haslam has proposed a $5 million improvement to the program!  We need to write our elected officials for two reasons:  First, say thanks for the TSAC Grant and second, to urge them to support Governor Haslam’s budget request to provide the additional $5 million to the program.

Below are some suggested talking points you can use for your email.  Feel free to use the suggestions or add your own.  You may even edit the suggested text to make it sound more personal.

Thank you for taking the time to send a note on this important issue!

Thanks!!! I encouraged the elected officials to support Governor Haslam’s budget request to provide the additional $5 million to the program..
The money offered by TSAC enables my children to attend school without sinking into Studen Loan debt. For this I thank you as I am not able to afford much assistance to my children tuition as a single parent.
Thank you
This grant is the only money that I lived on for the whole semester. Other wise, I would be sinking deeper into debt. I am running out to debt room. I have been employed more than I have been unemployed. Still I struggle for money for gas for car, books, basic food needs, school fees, and other bills. THANK YOU for the greatly needed assist. :)
Thank you so much for this grant. It has given me the opportunity to better myself for my family. Thanks!
Thank You. Without this grant I probably would not be able to attend school. This grant is a blessing to all students who recieve it.
Thank you so much. This helps more than you can imagine.

By receiving this award it has made it possible for me to attend classes and open the doors for me to have a brighter future. Without this award and the help from this program, I would not be able to attend school and I would have to relinquish my opportunity at gaining a higher education. Your support and award has accepted me on my behave has changed my life and I am very grateful. Thank you!

As a mother returning to school, our finances are very limited as I work to finish a degree to help support our family. The financial difficulties are made easier with grants like the TSAA award. The money helps to cover the expense of school istelf and the loss of income from not being able to work while applying myself to my studies. Thank you! It makes a huge difference to our family and I'm sure many others.
Thank you TSAA for all of your help and support!
Thanks for all the assistance there is in this state! Please extend the program and help other less fortunate.
Thank you so much for your help and for the TSAA grant. Please support the budget request to provide additional funding to the program because without the grant I will be unable to afford my junior year of my undergrad.
